Weblab can simulate orientational order in uniaxial systems where the orientational distribution can be specified by a single angle βD between the macoroscopic director (DF), z(DF), and the molecular axis of the mesogenic system (GF), z(GF). The relevant coordinate systems are as follows:

| Single Value | ![]() |
| Sine-Gauss | ![]() |
| Legendre | ![]() |
In case of a Sine-Gauss distribution Weblab is using σ=sin(½ sfw) where sfw is the value in degree you enter from the cone menu. When using an expansion in terms of legendre polynomials you have to supply the even moments <P2> to <P10>. The expansion is normalized by setting <P0> = 1.
When pressing the View button Weblab shows a graphical representation of the distribution with the parameters you have entered. Here you also have the option to let Weblab calculate the apropriate expansion coefficients for a representation in terms of legendre polynomials.
